Englewood holds some of the oldest housing in the south metro, much of it compact and well built with original wood under later coverings. The constraint in these houses is almost always the plan rather than the structure, and the basements are frequently lower and older than the ones in newer suburbs.

That matters for finishing. An older basement wants its moisture situation understood properly before anything is framed, because covering a problem below grade is expensive to undo.
